A local Tahitian influencer brings aid to people without adequate medical access – until she is outed as white. In the ensuing global outrage she meets Rahi, an up-and-coming documentary filmmaker. As a person of colour with roots in a colonized country, he struggles with his own ability to shape her story.
The play juxtaposes personal image as portrayed online against the undeniable reality of a body moving in real time onstage. Similar to the effect of seeing someone’s headshot, and then seeing them enter the room. Our relationship to the Internet and how we portray ourselves is explored through video and photography; the messy humanity of a person being cancelled is explored onstage.
